This is my first car with ABS. I remember something about not pushing pistons back to get new pads in, as it damages the ABS. (Think it was a mates Rover). Apparently the pistons could only be retracted by opening the bleed screw.

Is it OK to just force the piston back on the Mk3? Could not find posts anywhere else on this forum.

Plenty of people do it and it is generally ok (I've done it myself enough times) but the correct way is to crack the bleed nipple open before you push the pistons back.

last time id id that the brakes screwed up and ill need to do mine soon dont want to have to bleed em, wasnt on abs tho.
