Looks hydraulic to me - you can see the pipe best in the secon pic, follow that back and it will go to the brake fluid resovoir as it shares the fluid with the brakes.

are you talking about hydrolic gearchange or hydrolic clutch? is there any hydrolic gearchange on mondeo at all?
the clutch seems to be hydrolics but i can't see on the pics cable gearchange which might concerned you more. so it is either under/behind the shiny block of metal on pic4 as there are 2 cables going under it, or might be rod gearchange usualy going in to the gb behind it

at the bottom middle of the pic praxis put in is a bleed nipple same as you get on brake calipers look for that on your gearbox if you got one its hudraulic its on the top of the box iirc and the pic looks similar to your first pic if thats the same sort of copperish looking pipe.

No I was talking about the metal brake pipe style pipe that is right next to the gearbox caseing.

However, can you not still use the gearbox you have found?? I may be wrong but can't you just seperate the bellhousing together with all the clutch gubbins from the gearbox, and then attach it to the new box??

ok i see now which is what ithought in the first place it would have been easyer just to goto the garage and get yours checked straight after you got offered the cable operated box.
