Could be getting a 2.5t mondeo for what I think is a good price (could be wrong) £800 140000miles
Front and rear parking sensors, body not too bad for the age. Aftermarket exhaust + original. Steering makes a noise when turned whilst stationary. I'm assuming top mount?

How bad is the mpg? I've got a mk3 st 2.2 diesel at the moment which is great on fuel.

Thought that might be the case. I'd still be keeping the st . And insurance with 0 ncb is about £360 so not terrible. It's just justifying buying a car I'm not going to be using most days. I already have a motorbike that rarely gets ridden

They are quick engines and desirable for engine swaps but personally I think they're the best sounding engines.
You're never going to lose money on it anyway.

The insurance is good considering on my wife's 1.5tdci focus is £500 with 6 years ncb.

My van is £400 with 10 years ncb
But we've not hit 30 years old yet 😅

I also checked the price with a mate added who has only passed his test in September last year and it was still under £500. I suppose being 38 might help a little. The thing is my st is £330 with 5yrs no claims. Maybe it's the st badge

Flippin' eck that's a good premium.
I'm 51, full NCB and an Advanced Motorist for the past 26 years and my premium on my 2.0 ecoboost Tit x Sport last year was a little over £400

£800 for one is a bargain imo, mines got just over 136,000 miles on the clock and still runs well.
Few foibles crop up now and then but it is a lot of car for the cash.

I ran one a few years back. Had it for 2 years & 40k miles. Loved it.
it was my daily driver & overall average was 30.5. By driving like miss daisy I could get north of 40 on a run.
Enjoy 👍
How the hell did you get over 40 out of it???? Best I manage is 36-38 on a steady motorway run 😭
Short journeys around town and I'm around 17-20

Need to shop around bud, I'm 42 with full ncb and my 2.5t is around £200 a year with everything declared (would be £185 without the protected no claims) 😁

I had shopped around as my previous insurer, that I'd been with for years, were even more expensive.

Crazy isn't it when it used to cost me less than £200 quid to insure my LHD 3.8 litre American Sports Coupe - and that policy includes breakdown cover.

I'm 38 and my ncd is used on another car. I could add ncd protection as I'm not using any on this policy

Got to be some perks to getting older I suppose

Postcode probably has more to do with it than age. At 64 it maybe at a point where its a tiny hit higher than 50's.

Mum lives on the E. Coast and my insurance would be a fair bit cheaper up there. BIL moved from Birmingham to
Cumbria and his insurance went from £420 to £180, some of that probably down to getting his 6th year no claims
but probably still close to half of what he would have paid if he had not moved.

Sister lives about 6 miles away and her postcode is a fair bit dearer than mine.

my insurance changed £0 when i moved from rural cumbria with the car locked in a garage, to Carlisle with the car parked on the street. when i Moved to rural County Durham after that, car on a drive, again no change, now im in a town, with the car on the drive (just fits) again no increase.
the age of car and spec makes a huge difference. had i kept my old mk4.5 Zetec TDCi (140) the insurance for that was quoted (by generic firms id had quotes from last year) at £240 (im 47 years old, 20 years NCD) whereas the mk5 ST Line X (180) TDCI i did manage, with a scrap, to get down to £400, including roadside breakdown, courtesy car after accident, legal expenses, NCD protected, etc.
