OK, im a little after the event here, but, is the steering lock deactivated by a 12v feed, or by the switch turning?

I've always wanted a push-button start in my car...
May just do that but I'm not very electrically minded

It's not hard most people just replace the fourth turn of the key with a relay and button but the fourth turn of the key then stops you going back to the fourth position again until you switch the engine off. This is to stop you trying to engage the starter motor while the engine is running. If you cut this part out for a start button you run the risk of someone pressing the stater button with the engine running. So if you do go for it use a timed relay, and then the button will only be live for a set time after you switch the ignition on,say 5-10 seconds.
good advice! im up for this too. using the ads switch as the engine start button. but i too am a little weary of my poor electrical skills! if there was a really informative how-to id defo do it, but dont wanna find out the hard way on this one!

If you can wire in the AWS you could work out how to do this.
