the boot in my mk 1 hatchback mondeo rattles when i go over a bump. i think its the plastic cover but not too sure as the misses wont get in the boot while i drive down the road lol. is this a common thing and do i just need to take it off and pack it with carboard or something. cheers paul

not a MK1 man,but 90%of all the boot rattles at work is down to the boot lock,I am the one who has to sit in the boots and get driven around.I hate it it makes me as hell

Is there any play in the boot,ie,can you push it down or pull it up at all when its closed down?I guess the lock may just was loosening off if it isn't allready and moving in a little,to take up the play,then tightening back down.

Unless this is a common MK1 thing :L

My mk2 was doing the same,dropped the lock down a tad and all gone...Very happy
