Rear bumper replacement

Hi,

I have a Mk2 Mondeo 2.0 Hatchback R Reg.
How easy is it to replace the rear bumper and are there any gotchas? The Haynes manual says I need axle stands etc. Could I do it with the vehicle on the ground to save money?
