Rear reflectors

I want to add some reflectors to my lower valance.

I took a pic of these ones today on a 55 plate (mine is a 52).
They almost look like they just sit, or stick on top onto the outside of the lower valance. Can I buy them on their own, or would I need to buy a whole lower valance?

Sorry about the big yellow arrows, but I could not resist adding them, after I had put the red one on, to show that bloke dogging me up as I took the photo......Maybe he thought I was a terrorist on a recce mission lol

Any info on this, or part No./finis would be great.

IIRC there is a part of the valance which is moulded to take them. Maybe wrong but pretty sure it is.

Might be worth just getting a second hand valance with them on and swopping it for yours.

HTH
Here found a pic on ebay of a close up of the rear bumper.

As I said it has a moulded part in the valance

Thanks for the pic.

I was hoping they stuck on or something, as I have posted lots ads for valances, with no replies.

I don't want to buy a whole bumper just to get reflectors :}
I rang Ford about this very thing the other day. The reflectors are £8.16 each and the inserts which the reflectors clip into are £9 odd... plus VAT on top of that lost as well. So £35ish all in.

I've opted for a £2.45 set of stick on reflectors for the back on my Mondeo. These ones :-

I only needs two, so have to spare incase on (or both) fall off.

Much cheaper IMO and wont look took bad once I get them on.

There is a breaker called mondeo spares on ebay who has the rear valance, (I know as I enquired about one) but he wants £48.90 for it delivered, which I passed on !

Yes I've seen them with the stick on ones and TBH they look just as good. As long as the right sort of adhesive is used I cant see them coming off.

I think if your were going to replace your valance you'd be as well getting the tit x colour coded one as that looks mint.

The reflectors turned up today and the adhesive strip is the same size as the reflector, so it should stick.

I'd love a tit x rear valance, but I'd not only have to buy it and then get it sprayed in metropolis blue as I imagine they didnt do a tit x in that colour. :eyesup:
That is daylight robbery from Frauds...But no surprise there then!

I bet these things are made in china or somewhere for pennies.

I may have to visit a scrappy sometime, as I am finding that ebay scrappy prices are much higher than if you actually go to the yard yourself.

This is a project I would like to do, purely because it looks nice, and adds to safety.

I have just fitted facelift (not final facelift) lights to my 52 plate, as they are nicer than the original lights, and I thought the final facelift ones look a bit too fancy for my old diesel lol

Thanks for all the speedy replies though. This site has some very useful members for answers :)
Look on Motorhog.co.uk, not sure if they have any branches near you but I use them quite a lot as the is one near me. You can look on the website and see what cars they have in and even what parts have been taken. Very resonable prices to. Sure they'd do delivery
i used reflective tape on mine

been on over a year, and still ok

I understand you might want them added for safety, but don't forget that the first facelift lights already have reflectors in. It's only the final facelift lights that don't have reflectors in. Or am I reading your post wrong??

Thats correct :)
Hi Paul.
Reflective tape was my first idea, as I use it all the time. Most of my outdoor gear has the stuff on, whether in red, white, or yellow! It is brilliant stuff, and never comes off either. But, if that is your car in the pic, you have a different lower valance to me. From memory, the factory fit reflectors on that style of rear bumper look just like that, whereas I only have an LX, so have a different rear end....ooh er

In a funny way, I think putting tape on a bumper like that looks more professional than the bodged ones Ford came up with for my style of bumper lol
Hi Leesylv.

No, you are not reading my post wrong, and yes I did know that only final facelift lights don't have reflectors.

The added safety bit, is for parking or stopping on unlit country roads, where every extra bit of light or reflector can only be a good thing IMHO.

But thanks for bringing it up anyway :) If I had been doing it, thinking my lights did not have reflectors, then you would have just saved me a lot of money and hassle :L

Not to mention, this 'modding' business gets compulsive.....I already have the sunglasses holder in the centre of the headlining, but am thinking of getting another, to replace the drivers grab handle :} :} :}
I use reflective tape on my LX-style rear valance even though I have standard pre-face lights for a similar reason - cars with the valance reflectors are more visible, particularly to motorists on dipped beam.

I cut and positioned the tape (Halfords red tape) to look like the OEM "short" reflectors. It's lasted well (2 years, 40k miles).
Hi 52.

Do you have any pics?

Just checked your garage entry, but you don't have a pic in there.

Why not get all creative, and do some close ups :}
It's a bit of reflective red tape, in the same shape and position as the OEM short reflectors. Use your imagination... :}
OK, my imagination is at the ready :)
So, are the reflectors in the first pic I posted the 'short' ones, as I only know of that type on an LX?

In a bored moment yesterday, I also spent some time looking at where I could stick some reflective tape on the inside of the hatchback, so it would 'shine' when the hatch was open.
Right, I have fitted the proper Ford reflectors.
It is not the easiest of jobs, as the reflector holder sits inside the rear valance, so you need to cut a hole out for it to go in!

It took quite a while to make my own template for the size of the hole, but once they were in they looked good.

Just thought I would put up some pics of the final results, just in case anyone else is brave/foolish enough (you choose) to be wanting to cut holes in their valance :)
