Having been told that the noice from the rear could be a loose top nut i was wondering if the only way to access it is to drop the strut or is itpossible to get to it by stripping some of the interior trim?

i think you have to drop the strut mate

ain't they supposed to be fixed from the top? i.e. top nut has to accessible from the top, in a similar fashion as the fronts, i think.

On a Mk1 there are 2 bolts underneath the arch next to the top of the strut, Not sure about the Mk2 though
