rear wiper

Hi wounder if any can help..... my rear wiper works when i press the stalk but if i press it in mid flow it just stops!!!! it doesnt carry on and return to bottom of the screen like it has been doing...
any ideas what this is ??? may be relay or the rear wiper stalk on way out ?
