Release Steering Lock After Stopping Engine

Hi all.

I have a Mk4 2007 Titanium X with keyless entry. If I stop the car and wait inside for a while the steering lock engages, but I cannot see a way of releasing the steering lock without unlocking the car on the fob, then opening & closing the driver’s door. There must be an easier way to release the steering lock? (I have tried pressing the start button with and without the clutch, but it still does not release, even when ‘leaning’ on the steering wheel).

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike…

Mike,

i don't know if the keyless entry affects things differently, but on my (push remote fob) electronic lock once it has locked it deactivates once the clutch is pressed.

Does your car automatically lock as well?

The car does automatically lock, but pressing the clutch does not release the steering lock.
