Could i remove the lift reverse mech and the actual lift itself without losing the gaitor (which is held on by the lifter me thinks)

Im hoping to fit a gear knob from an old 4 series rover as it feels so much better than the mondy one. (18 months driving a 414si)

on short, you cant. theres plenty of nicer knobs available that will fit like escort cosworth, mk3 5-speed, ST knobs etc.

I really do like the rover knob. It feels quite comfortable. Ill have a look at the escorts in the scrappers tomorrow but i know ill be trying a rover one to see if it screws on ok.

I know i can remove the lug under the gaitor which would allow me to use reverse like my old rover and then i can leave the lifter alone then.

Would really like maybe to get a short shifter with no lift up reverse but oh well.
