blimey i recall my dad getting hold of one of those and we went to hull in it when they were new. How fantastic i thought it was.....and he had one in van form as a police car, how cool i thought i was going to school in it with its police radio the size of a house under the dash....how sad i am :} :} :} :}

not sad at all Manix mate , no matter how good cars are getting or even if you look at our mondeos with all the full leather , heated this heated that , electric this etc etc etc , the saying will all ways stick with me ' You Cant Beat An Old School Ford ' , they are fantastic.

its not just Fords either , there are tones of old school cars i love , here is a few:

V8 didnt come in just the vitesse model but were also available in S/SE and vanden plas.....other engines were the 6 cylinder 2300 and 2600.....vitesse models didnt appear till 82/83........

thats were your knowledge will over take mine on the older cars due to your age Garry , so they had diffrernt engine size's , but did they only do 1 size in the V8 , i know rover used the 2300cc in the war type landrovers as well.

the rover v8 was originaly an american GM engine which rover bought the rights too...as for 3.5 ltr only..no because you have the v8 rover 3.9/4.0/4.2 and 4.6 found in the range rovers..........

My mum had a 1983 A reg Vanden Plas 3.5 Auto. What a car! It was the first car I drove after I passed my test! Quite a step up from my instructor's 1.0 Micra! It met it's demise when a tree fell on it as my mum was driving to her work one morning during storms in 1992. Luckily my mum walked away with a fractured wrist.

Anyway, how did I miss this thread before?
