235/45 which is stock size or 245/45 which is about 4mm more sidewall and obviously a little wider.

Seems to be much more choice in 245.

The 245 will be 9mm taller and your speedo will underread approx 1mph @70mph.

Will the current rims take a 145? Is there enough clearance for the wider and

taller tyre?

Yes9mm taller, which is 4.5 mm taller sidewall. There's enough space as the new wheels have, a slightly lower offset. As far as I know an 8 inch rim can take 245 max. The E60 BMW runs 245/45r18 up front and doesn't seem too wide.

Just wondering if any one had run a 245 on an 8inch rim?

With the Focus they have to add end stops to the steering to limit the amount

of travel when turning left and right. If you dont fit them the tyres can contact the

arches on full lock.

Yea, I think the Smax should have them on the 17s and up. Since I came from the factory in 17s I would like to assume they were in there already. Never felt a rib on full lock but the extra width on the tyre might just make it touch. Unless I am stuck I might just stick with 235. Cheers
