I had a spare key programmed (not cut) at the Watford branch of this dealership last week, it took them around 15 minutes and they lifted £84.60 from me for the pleasure! Went back there for 6litres of Engine Oil & a filter yesterday, they lightened my wallet by a further £43.35.

they will only ever see me again if there's a recall or I can't source a part from a supplier or an independent! This car will never see Formula E again either.

yep, they's the ones.

I always knew they were fairly expensive, & maybe it wouldn't have hurt so much if they had to actually "work" for the money, you know; break out a spanner, a screwdriver or whatever! but £84+ for sitting in my seat & twiddling a key (that I supplied!) in the ignition a few times is extortionate! plain & simple. The only reason they got away with it is because you can only program a remote if you have two keys already programmed - which I didn't! so had no choice but to go to them.

As for the Oil, I could have got 6 litres of Castrol for under £25 quid & a filter for less than £7, but decided I'd rather use what they themselves recommend - I hardly expected to be stung for those as well.

so far I know of 2 of their suppliers that are either local or near enough to make the trip worthwhile:

[color:red]QuickCo, Stirling Way, Borehamwood! (for Ford branded parts) I remembered using them once when I needed two plastic headlight lens' for the Mk1 a couple of years back, SKY said I would have to buy the complete headlight units as Ford "didn't make the lens' anymore" ...yeah right! I think I paid around £10 per side. I bought the new key there & saved over £20 on SKY's quote of £72+VAT.

[color:red]Allparts, Shakespeare St, Watford! (for OE parts) I saved £50 for a radiator on the old car compared to SKY's quote of £120+VAT.

both of these are cheaper than the dealer, more honest than them, friendlier and then there's the added bonus of not feeling like you've just been bent over the parts\service counter and shafted.

SKY seem to believe they have exclusivity on all Ford parts & service locally! I think there's a different dealership in St. Albans I might give a try. Do yourself a favour the next time you need a Ford part; get a quote from SKY, then drive to Borehamwood & get a quote for the same part from them! I bet the saving will surprise you.

Give them your "hard earned" if you choose to do so, but I'm done with them - they're [color:red]Thieves IMO. :angryfire:

Mate I've only used them for stuff that you can only get from Fords, all of it was cheap anyway.

Allparts gets a big :L from me, use them all the time. Fuel filter cost me 2quid from there, compare that to Ford prices! I went to Sky to get some CV boots and they didn't have any, they told me they get them from Allparts if I wanted to go straight there, worked out cheaper too!! lol

Will try the one in Borehamwood :L They got a website mate, I found one but it says the nearest branch is St Albans? I think it's the right company though.

Have you used Bennetts, they're suppose to be cheaper than Allparts. Gonna try them for my lower arm tomorrow. Or I'd also recommend Tomoparts in West Drayton, they sell all Ford OE with a good discount.

quickco.co.uk! not much there though.

Address:
Stirling Way
Stirling Corner
Borehamwood
Herts, WD6 2AX
Telephone: 0208 207 3100

It's just off the A1 northbound at the big Round-a-Bout up from the A41 junction (Apex Corner).

It was the old guy at SKY ford that first sent me to Allparts years back - used to give a traders discount too - but he's left now and the Witch that has been drafted in has no finesse.

Quickco use the same parts system\finis codes as Ford, so getting the right part is easy. :L

so you say they are expensive but you chose to go back there , surely you knew what you were letting yourself in for :eek13: , and as i see it , they are no more expensive than any ford dealer or in fact any other run of the mill main dealer , apologies for being more than a little confused about the point of this , or is it a personal grudge against a particular dealer

when I had the old car I rarely participated in these forums! but it was so old, I hardly ever bought OE parts for it - everything possible was pattern to save on costs! with this new one i'd like to use original as much as possible, which means finding a dealer\outlet fairly local to me that doesn't want to rip me off at the earliest opportunity.

while browsing this forum I decided to post an honest personal opinion gleaned from my experience with this dealership, & since it is a personal opinion - I guess you could call it a personal grudge. But wouldn't that make the point of this forum moot. :nana:

take it or leave it, however you see fit.

edit: in case anyone else is in doubt to the point of my post: the issue is with paying £84.60 for 15 minutes! that's = £338.40 per hour. Does that sound like run of the mill costs to you?

bloody hell my hook was taken quick there , ok so it was only 15 minutes , but ......... , i suspect you were charged for an hours labour , not 15 minutes at £80 odd £ x 4 ;) , did you complain ???? , i suspect not as you recieved what you needed , will you go somewhere else now ???? , maybe , would you get charged more or less the same at another ford dealer ???? , yes i suspect you would , now it is my turn to  and go to bed :D

Point Made, Point Taken!

this was to be an informational post for those that might come across this dealer elsewhere! if you've experienced SKY's costs or service for yourself, then fine, make your experience known! if you haven't, why are you posting - if not to boost your profile?

your thread crapping isn't appreciated here.

POST NOTCHING:

Posting with the sole intention to "up your post count" is not only
stupid but also recorded. Users found to be doing this will have their post
count zeroed.

if you feel that strongly about my posting then go and stir up the admin , that will sort it out i am sure , what i dont get is the fact that you are calling a dealer a fraudster when it would have cost the same at any dealer you went to , those are the prices and pay if you want to , no one is forcing your arm are they

obviously it doesn't cost the same at every dealer - as the link I posted earlier proves.

edit: here's your post from that same thread!

dont forget , when you are looking at £ 70 ish to program a key you are paying for the labour charge , i agree though the labour / hour charges are extortionate :(
had a change of heart? are you now working for a main dealer? have you ever experienced a SKY dealership?what's your MO?
