If you are looking at 99 2.0 Ghia X on S or T plate, the specifications are:

Air Conditioning
Cruise Control
Front + Rear electric windows
8 way electric drivers seat
Electric sunroof

Footwell Lights
Heated front+rear windscreen
Heated electric mirrors
6 CD changer + 5000RDS stereo
Leather seats
Heated front seats
ABS
16" alloy wheels

Chrome handbrake lever
Bodycoloured mirrors/side mouldings/door handles

Most of them had passenger airbag also.

From half of V plate onwards you also get:

SATC (Climate Control)
Rear Disc Brakes
Traction Control
Drivers, Passengers and Side Impact airbags

If you get a 1998 or older, you also get:

Auxillery Warning System (Door ajar, brake pad warning, etc etc)
RDS7000 stereo instead of RDS5000
Carpeted Door bins
Door handle lights
Older steering wheel
No chrome handles, no chrome handbrake lever

In addition to this, there were optional extras:

SATC was a cost-option on pre V reg cars.
RSAP bodstyling was a cost option on R plate cars onwards
16" 'Chrome Effect' alloys were a cost option
16" 'Turbine' ST24 alloys were a cost option on the Estate (But came with the Sports Appearance Pack on saloon and hatch if selected)
Front passenger airbag + Rear centre headrest formed 'Safety Pack' and was a cost option before being made standard in 1999.
Satellite Navigation was a cost option.
Rear spoiler was a cost option (Or, again, included in Sports Appearance Pack).

hello.
i had a ghia x (99t)in stardust silver.
one of the best cars i ever had.the engine is
quite punchy,and economical.
but i swopped it for a st24 (2ooow) again in
stardust silver, and when you have driven both
cars, you know what a lot you have got with
the st24,power wise,but a lot less equipement.
so i would suggest to you is go and buy the
ghia x 2.5 v6,you will also get some extra
equipement over and above the 2.0 ghia x.
if you get a late one v,reg onwards, you will
have the benefit of full walnut dash,
i.e speedo surround, heater/radio surround,
and the light switch, does look good. ;)

I would have thought even more fake wood is a somewhat dubious benefit..

FWIW the specification of the late V plate on 2.0 and 2.5 Ghia X's is the same, the 6 cylinder model doesn't have any additional equipment, just the different engine.

With the older ones though the V6 has rear discs and TCS, the 16v does not.

just an idea, no idea how you do that.
easy having good ideas eh? :whistling:

sorry to have to disagree.
the more wood the better, and the more powerful 2.5 v6,is much more thrilling,i do know i have owned both, and that is what i am basing my
opinion on.SORRY. :headshake:

It's not a matter of opinion it's a matter of fact.

Specification wise, aside from the engine, the last of the V6 and the last of the 2.0 Ghia X have exactly the same specification in terms of equipment.

The only difference between the two is the engine up front. Which I agree, is better in 6 cylinder form, but you said you got more equipment. This is not true.

You probably had more in your V6 than you did in your 2.0 but that would be because it was a late Ghia X not becuase it was a V6.

Stop being so matter of fact.
personal taste and opinion count for more in my book.
regarding the equipement,i was offering my advice
to the original posting.
he was thinking of buying a 99 reg 2.0 ghia x.
this car does not have full dash (DUBIOUS FAKE WOOD) as you put it.I LIKE IT.
if he was to buy a latter model it would have it,
and he might like it.and i think that if he has a test drive,in a 2.5 v6 version of the car he will
will prefer it,proving he has the sheckles to
run it.
and that is my OPINION having owned both versions.
so please no more lecture's on your facts.

thankyou fox2 for all your specifications :)

youve been a very great help

just for smalltalk, why did ford take the auxilary warning system out of the mondeo? wouldnt it have been better to leave it with it being quite fancy (for the ghia x models)

thanks

i know i've got mk1 and mk3 Mondeo brochures, got some other good ford ones too somewhere - big Capris, Sierra cosworth, RS turbo escort etc. how would you want it then? images scanned and sent as JPEG?

why not post a wanted announcement as a 'sticky' and see what turns up? i bet there are plenty of members who have really good brochure collections?

[i haven't even got a scanner :ponder: , but i think i know where there's one at work i could use with a bit of grovelling.]

yer this sounds like a real good idea people

im sure between all of the meg people there are brochures from every year/revision of the mondeo mk1, mk2 and mk3

maybe if the 'boss man' of the forum univerisally advertises all over the forum, then it gets put in workshop submissions

He wanted specifications - purely a list of facts. You said a V6 would be a better buy becuase the specification would be higher. This was not the case.

he was thinking of buying a 99 reg 2.0 ghia x.
this car does not have full dash (DUBIOUS FAKE WOOD) as you put it.I LIKE IT.
99 reg cars produced after July 1999 have the same specification regardless of whether they are 4 or 6 cylinder. This includes the additional fake wood.

if he was to buy a latter model it would have it,
and he might like it.and i think that if he has a test drive,in a 2.5 v6 version of the car he will
will prefer it,proving he has the sheckles to
run it.
Perhaps he might like it, I wasn't disputing that, I was simply saying that your comment that a V6 would be a better buy becuase it is of higher specification was incorrect. For July 99 production onwards, the specification is the same. Even pre Jul 99 the only thing the V6 has extra is TCS and rear discs.

I do not disagree with you that a V6 might be the best car to go for, if I was buying again I'd agree and buy a V6 but he asked for specs..

I like the fake wood as well, I think it looks good but I think having it around the stereo as well is a bit overpowering.
