Hi all,
newbie here...

I have an ST200 4DR with an intermitant throttle hang problem. Once a day or once a month it rev's up to 3500 + when the clutch is pressed. It happens when the Duratech is hot, cold or inbetween, after a 1 hour journey or a 3 minute journey.
It's not good for my ego when I'm doing 5000 rpm whilst sitting at a zebra crossing when a pair of chicks cross the road in front of me.

Does anyone have the Duratech V6 job, with this problem? I've had the car 3 months, it's a 2001 Y reg with 22,900 miles fully serviced, etc, etc.

I hope you guys can help.

there could be several reasons there is a mod which I did recently to my mk1 v6 which involved fitting a 15mm copper end cap with a 7mm hole drilled in it into the pipework to the egr valve took me 5 mins and worked I have had no throttle hang since just use the search facility and put in throttle hang there are pictures as well could also be throttle position sensor etc have a search around you will find loads of usefull stuff
cheers

You need to have the TB checked first-ST200's can suffer from premature TB wear and it needs replacing.

Hi,
many thanks for your replies. Could you plz tell me what a TB is?
I'll have a crack at the air sensor mod suggested, but before I do I'd like to mention that I forgot to include in my previous message the engine mods. The car has a Blitz filter and the ECU has been 'Bluefin' ed. I dont know if either of these two engine mod's are a common cause of the fault I have, and / or if there is an easy fix for it regarding these mods. Ie, put em back to standard.

One other thing, when doing a 3 point turn, with the steering at full lock in either direction, the car sort of jumps forward. It feels as if the front corner of the car is being pulled down in the direction of turn. It sorts itself out as soon as I come off full lock. I've noticed that the steering wheel does not re-centre when on full lock. Is this normal?

TB is throttle body , tey the throttle hang fix , will only cost you about 2 pound , as for them mods i do know of little probs with air filter kits etc causing that , you say you have bluefin , plug it back in and change it back to factory settings and then try , if not leve your battrey off over night to rest the ECU , if not you know it is not the bluefin .

as for the other bits i dont know as i have not been or drove a st200 :L

I will reset the bluefin now and see how it goes for the rest of the week. If no better I'll disconnect the battery over night on Saturday. I'm a right in assuming the alarm wont freakout and that it will reset ok when the battery is re-connected. The reason I ask is because I had an Escort RS Turbo which DID NOT like the battery to be took off, the alarm and imobilizer went ape.

Many thanks Chris...

P.S. Is it possible to attach piccys on these posts? I have tried to copy and paste with no joy. The file attachment thing to the left comes up with an error when I try using it.

yes try to reset the bluefin , if that fails reset the ECU by removing the battrey , i have not known any modeos that freak out etc , to attatch a photo when you add a post you have little blue buttons up the top of the box where you type the text , 6 up top / 6 bottom , on bottom row 4th one across , pic of a hill sort of thing :L

Regarding the piccy. That picture attach button ( 4th from left @ bottom ) asks for the URL of the piccy. I dont have a web site so I guess I'm stuffed.

I'll post the results of the Bluefin and ECU reset soon. 8)

I've looked at the link dude. Not sure how to join the register though. Plz advise.

Your 200 looks very nice. What wax do yer use, cause it's shining like a good un.

I'll post, regarding the Throttle hang problem I'm having atm. Have you had any issues with this, with your 200?
