ST220 Stalls when warm, why?

Bit of a strange one this and i'm now starting to scratch my head over it.

Basically if i restart my ST220 when warm, the revs just drop right down then stalls?

If i give the car a good run it doesn't do it, if i drive it for say 5 miles from cold then it will stall on restart.

Changes i've made so far are new plugs, new leads, new fuel filter, injectors cleaned, throttle body cleaned, both inlet manifolds cleaned (not that they needed it!) and ICV cleaned.

Its been like it since i've had the car and i've done the above jobs as general routine maintenence. The car was misfiring at low rpm when warm but cured when i changed the plugs and leads.

This stalling has got me though, i've checked what i feel is everything possible that could cause the problem but still drawn a blank.

If i've missed anything or if any of you have suggestions on what it could be, please let me know.

Cheers. :L

Have you checked/replaced the notorious vac pipes, which crack and let air in.

Another one is the purge solenoid valve, which i had replaced.
I can't hear any vac leaks and all pipes seem sound, i checked them when i had the upper manifold off.

Where abouts is the purge solonoid valve located?

Something i never mentioned in my last post but when i go to park the car on my driveway, i'm relying on the idle speed to move along slowly just to straighten up. When i get to borderline of stalling i dip the clutch then the rpm shoots up to about 2000rpm then goes back to normal straight away.

When i've had a decent run of lets say 20 miles i'll restart the car, the revs will dip down to about 4-500rpm then recover to normal which is pretty much how all of my previous V6's have worked over the years.

Apart from this fault the car runs fine, pulls very well with no hesitations at any rpm.

Going back onto the purge soloniod valve you mentioned, is this a costly operation as in an expensive part? Or did you have this done under warranty?

Thanks for your reply. :L

Purge solenoid is part of the EVAP system.
Its location is between the brake servo and inlet manifold,it has an electrical 2 wire plug and 2 10mm pipes attached one has a metal crimp.
I had mine replaced as it had an intermittent fault, the part costs about £70.

Another one to look at is the clutch master cylinder ,that has a vacuum pipe fitted to and that can cause stalling and eratic idling.
I had that replaced last spring not long after i got car,cos it kep't stalling when setting off.

Ok, so the clutch cylinder for me could be a strong possibilty to be ruled out as the car makes no attempt to stall when doing a normal set off.

The purge solonoid valve, does this mount on the top right of the upper inlet via a rubber mounting and makes an irritating clicking in time with the engines idle when warm?

Yep thats it,i don't think i have heard mine clicking tho.
At idle the purge valve should be closed.
When my engine is warm this solenoid erratically clicks in time with the engine's idle, its almost like an injector sound but sounds louder and more metallic like a relay? Thats the best way i can describe it.

Its only happens when the car has warmed up, never when cold or during warm up.

It does it for a few seconds then stops, does it for a few seconds then stops.

The more i look at this the more i'm thinking its at fault.

I'll try and investiagte tommorow and report back, thanks for your replies on this its much appreciated. :L
mate the clutch master cyl does NOT have a vac pipe connected to it. There are two pipes connected:

1: From the filler bottle
2: to the gearbox

thats it. I replaced mine recently, real pain in the ass.
