Guy i need help again....

Well ive left the car sitting for like a week now cause ive been on the bike to work for a week now :stupid: .... i like my bike :gayfight:

well anyways tonight decided i wanted to hear the v6 fire up again also do good for the battery, well anyways pushed the button and it unlocked the door once, then nothing, i kept pressing and nothing would happen, tried to take off the fuse for 10 seconds but still nothing, thought i had reprograming instructions and they dont work, i think the last time i did it it was a fluke... :stupid:

well what i wanted to know is does anyone know how to reprogram the key for the car?? Any one have some clear instructions that work?? this might have been asked loads of times :whistling: but i cant find anything but for the mk1 which is not mine, mines a mk2 st24 v6 98 reg, any help would be appreciated thanks :thankyousign: :L

hi thanks for your reply ive tried this and its still doesnt work, is this for the mk1 or mk2?? Ive put it in position 1 for 10 sec and the light never came on still it just flashes like normal every two seconds or soo, ive tried turning the key 3-2 3-2 3-2 3-2 for time quite fast and the red led on the clock lights up but then nothing, it stays on for about 20 seconds and then goes back to flashing once again, any one know how to do this as its really annoying :thankyousign:

As you have a 1998, It could be PATS1 or PATS2.
PATS1 is Infa red, with little windows on the doorhandles.
PATS2 is radio frequency, no little windows on the doorhandles.
Make sure you use the right method.
The only other thing to try is make sure the battery/contacts in the fob are clean, and bend the contacts up a bit to make a better contact.

Just read your question again, put the key in, then turn 2-3 2-3 2-3 2-3, as you said, then remove key and press any button on the remote,(This is for PATS2 Radio Frequency, no windows on doorhandles)

does anyone on here know how to do this?? There must be someone on here that knows how to reprogram a mk2 central locking, ive tried the fuse and ive left it off for 2 days and i tried it back in and u can hear a click that the central locking motor is receiving but when i press the button nothing happens, there must be a way of reprograming the key to the car, i know if u turn the key from 3-2 3-2 3-2 3-2 really fast the light on the dash stays on, does anyone know what the next thing to do is?? Ive tried loads of things and none of them seem to work, please anyone :(

The way on Mirez's website has worked on all 5 of ours.

Radio Frequency Programming Instructions:

Insert the ignition key and turn from position II (Ignition) to position 0 (All off) and back four times within three seconds.
Remove the ignition key. The locking control system is now in "learn mode" for the next 20 seconds and the red warning system LED (By the clock) stays on continuously to indicate this.
During the 20 seconds press one of the transmitter buttons. The remotes signal and code number is learned by the locking module and is indicated by flashing the warning system LED.
Wait until learn mode times out (20 seconds) or switch the ignition back to ON.

Give it a try.

i have a spare alarm and lock module, that could help.

Remove all the plugs from the alarm/lock module for about 10 mins, then try the reprogramming method again.

Turn key at least 5 times in 5 seconds, ie off to ign + etc, until light on clock illuminates. Press a button on each keyfob thaty ou want programmed and clock will flash to accept signal. When complete turn ign on then off the finish. Then try all keys to lock and unlock. Could also be a faulty door switch..

If you need help call me on 07955 406 446

thanks guys ive tried both methods but the led on the clock doesnt flash 4 times like it should do when u press any button on the key fob, it still stays lit the led does until the 20 seconds are up and then goes back to flashing twice i think every 2 seconds if im right, it not working, ive tried to pull the fuse for 10 min and nothing works, ive left the fuse out for 2 days and still didnt work, when u say to disconect the alarm modle where do u mean?? Is it the proper little fuse box thing under your glove compartment, the white box with the fuses and relays?? If it is ill check to see that they are all connected but the thing is when i pull the fuse and put it back in u can hear the click sound meaning the locking is working, and when i lock the door manually all the doors lock as well, its weird because i drove it the other day and after driving it to fill up on lpg i pushed the unlock button on purpose and it clicked, tried it again and nothing and its been like that since, when i first came to start the car the other week after it had been sitting for like a week it unlocked once and thats it, its really annoying me now cause ive fixed it before and now it doesnt want to know :(

Silly question, is the battery in the fob ok, if the light on the dash isn't flashing when you press the lock/unlock button, then perhaps the fob isn't working, because the battery is flat. There is enough in it if you leave it a few days, to lock, or unlock once, then the battery is flat? Try a new battery.

thanks guys for the reply, well ill check the alarm module later on if i can find it :stupid:

as for the batteries, well they work cause when u press the button the light shows and then if u hold it for a couple of seconds the light flashes in the key fob as well could buy another set just in case, their not that expensive and try it then, might work then, but as if now they seem ok if this makes sense

Are you sure its not the key fob itself thats had it ? when i bought my car the two button key that i had didnt work the remote side of things at all ( even though the light on it worked ) .. someone lent me a 3 button key fob just to try the remote side of things ( thanks drac ;) ) and it worked so showed my key was knackered so just bought another key ( 3 button this time ) and swapped the transponder over and reprogrammed it as explained by bookwyse above and all ok now

On here I read £13 to change the battery and reprogram the remote, But they will only do what you are doing, if they cant do it, they will end up trying to sell you a new remote or something knowing them, better get all the details first.

ok guys all of you thanks for helping me, damb u dont know how it feels to get replied to your post when you arent getting anywhere with this stupid problem, now ive quoted u dave cause this is starting to sound a bit scary here, first where would i get one of these 3 button keys from?? And then changing the transponder thing how would u go on by that?? U said bookwise said something about this so will have to look back to see if theres any instructions on this, sounds a bit technical, but im willing to have a go but i guess i will need one of these 3 button key, will i need a new key cut or can i still use the one on my old key fob that as u say might not be working, i just push the button and nothing, its like it doesnt want to know, thing is im going to america for 3 months in two weeks so the damb car is going to be left standing again, so im scared to get it sorted only to come back and its not working again :(

As said where can u get these 3 button keys from?? Any help really appreciated thanks guys your the best :first: :thankyousign:

And sorry for long post and for being a bit :stupid:
