Can anyone tell me what the standard tyre size is on ST24 4 spoke 'turbine' alloys is? I'm away from the car and I need to order some tyres today. I can't remember if the profile is 50 or 55!

Any help appreciated.

I have the same st24 turbine wheels, and need new tyres.

Does anyone know if it's safe to run 205/55/16's?
(slightly higher profile)
As this size is tons cheaper (about 20 quid a tyre for pirelli p6000's)

Cheers

Thanks for the info peeps. I also have the bar on my front bumper - will check the clearance on my current tyres (205/50-16s). I have checked on the tyre calculator at http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

and this shows the following details:

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
205/50-16 4.0in 12.0in 24.1in 75.6in 838 0.0%
205/55-16 4.4in 12.4in 24.9in 78.2in 811 3.4%

So only a small increase in radius - .4 inch.
Will measure the gap between tyre and bar at full lock tonight.

well, the gap at full lock is just under half an Inch. about .4 of an Inch in fact!

So still not sure whether to risk it. Anyone else running 205/55-16s without them rubbing?

I wonder whether the bars holding the bumper at the front can be moved....?

Cheers

I've got a set of Ghia X alloys to bang on soon, which are the same size. How much difference would running 55 profiles make to speedo accuracy?
