Hi all,

My brother has a problem with his mk1 1.8LX: When on a motorway, or other decent run, coming to a stop at lights or an intersection for example, causes the engine to stall. He says it restarts fine and idles until the next time. Also starts fine from cold, and apparently runs well too, just stalls at stops. I thought it might be a vacuum leak, anyone else got any ideas please?

grabbing at straws here , idle control valve or the exhaust gas recirc valve , something else is sitting in the back of my mind about a tee piece that causes a problem , not a lot of use i know but at least it bumps the thread for you :L

mine kept doing that and i found the rubber tpiece under the coil knackered so i changed that but it still did it. so i unplugged the maf and it stopped

ICV is a good possibility, check the T piece first though.
