Hi,

On the Mk4.5, the veh is 30mm lower with sports sup than with Standard susp.

Can anyone with a Mk 5 advise the following please

1. Standard factory suspension with 19" wheels - height from wheel centre to top of wheel arch (front & rear).

2. Sports factory suspension with 19" wheels - height from wheel centre to top of wheel arch (front & rear)

Many thanks

You can, mine is coming in October. Also go on Ford configure a car site. Titanium plus add any extras offered including sports susp & 19" wheel. Also many used ones with same spec on Autotrader

No problem Neil. The Mk 5 is a pain to spec up. You can't just buy what I had up to yesterday with just one "tick".

Ask for "Appearance Pack" (Body Kit) but you still don't get a Spoiler.

Then have to add "Spoiler" on its own.

"If u have an automatic trunk, u can never have the spoiler"
That is quite correct Dragunov. I would prefer no automatic trunk!!!

TomboY, as you had T X sport before like me, now you have Mk5 do what do you think about std susp. Do you think we need to upgrade to Sports. I dont like soft ride, prefer bmw 5 series m sport type ride

Yes, mine has X pack, body kit, 19" wheels and a few more toys but not sports susp or a spoiler. Spoiler will be a doddle to do.

I did the front springs which were easy enough.
The rears I couldn't get the car on my lift at work because the car was to low for our commercial lifts and I wasn't prepared to do it on the floor so I had a garage in Bagshot do the rears and it took them 2hrs, best £50 I ever spent lol

Mine's the estate with sport suspension but not self levelling, 180PS diesel, 19" wheels. With no passengers and a few kilos in the boot, and parked on what I thought was flat, measuring rim to arch:

Front Left: 110mm

Front Right: 105mm

Rear Left: 110mm

Rear Right: 108mm

So I guess averages are most useful here: Front 107.5mm Rear 109mm

ETIS shows :

With Sports Tuned Suspension
Front Spring Load Class-U
Rear Spring Load Class-M

Ok, had my 2L Ecoboost Titanium with X Pack, Appearance Pack (Body Kit & grills), 19" wheels etc etc for 3 days now. Colour is Magnetic.

6,000 miles, just one year old. No rear Spoiler (yet), No Sports Susp (yet). My measurements are

Standard factory suspension with 19" wheels - (measured from top of the alloy wheel rim to wheel arch)
Front 130mm
Rear 120mm

So in round figures it looks like Factory Sports Suspension drops the veh approx. 20mm (as expected)

Looks like diesel vehs differ slightly anyhow.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Not sure if I will go to sports susp yet. The car sits and looks good with the 19"s and standard ride suits me more than I ever expected. Time will tell and my dealer is loaning me a petrol veh with sports susp when he has one to try.

So, as I have no electric tailgate lift, I will just concentrate on a spoiler before xmas
