theres steering fluid pouring out of the rack where the gaitor is on the passenger side ,
i got mine from ebay for £125, plus fitting was about £200 all in as the rack had play in one end and it wasn't just a case of winding the arm out and replacing a seal (which might cost you less money if this is the case)

i havent had a proper look at the rack on the car but i collected it last night and drove it home and the steering was fine, well apart from leaking , so if i get a second hand rack would i be able to just swap the seals over ?
2nd hand seals? Nooo. Once disturbed they wont last long.

Better off getting new seals & fitting those, Try yellow pages to find a local company that reconditions them.
They will offer advice & supply a seal kit.

One of those items many people would not think of trying, But probably just like changing a seal on a master or slave cylinder.
i was told that the seals and ujs arnt replacable how true it is i dont know but i do know i was gonna be charged alot more than 300.00 for it so i just live with it :(
picked up a second hand rack for £20 , unable to see how i would change the seals so just going to fit the whole rack .

has anyone changed the rack themselves ? whats it like to do ?
I bought one via "breakerlink" for £85 as my steering was stiff when the steering was in dead centre then just off centre it became normal, I also bought a steering and water pump assembly for good measure for £40 while I was at it not bad after 250 k
