I have a BA Ford 2003. Great car and I've had it for several years now but recently I've had problems with the fuel flap not opening. It's caused me some grief especially when I go to the servo to fuel up. I got around it before by squirting copious amounts of water around the flap to hopefully free up the flap. sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Like yesterday. I had often wondered about the tug handles in the boot/trunk. I thought one was for if you get locked inside the boot, you can open it from the inside. Handy. The other I paid no attention to till today. I turned it over and there's a petrol bowser printed on one side. I tugged at it but didn't want to break it. I followed the wire up as far as I could and gave it another tug. Woopee, it popped open. Everything seemed to be in order, nothing broken, the solenoid clicks when I push the dash button, I don't want to lubricate it too much because of the dust collecting around it. I can only put this down to the dust. Inadvertently I probably lubricated it too much when it first happened. So for now problem solved.
