hiya guys today i got a bit annoyed as i supposidly got flashed twice by 2 different cameras on the same road one after another coming home from kingston uni

well the limit was 30 and i was doing 30 bang on and as i looked in my rear view mirrow (i always check it after a camera) i saw it flash i think it was twice. The second time was about 1 min later when the next camera was approached, similar situation but i could have sworn i was past the road markings and the camera flashed, this time there was no one behind me.

Only thing is ive had people driving next to me flashed and the flash is usually a very attention grabbing light even if its not your car and these flashes dint seem to be like that!i know i was doing 30 both times 100% sure, although my speedo could be a slight bit out as my original wheels were 15's and are now 17's but the rolling radius hasnt changed that dramatically i dont think

am i just getting paranoid??

just for the record i havent got any convictions under my name and want to keep it that way!

I wouldn't worry too much, as you say the rolling radius won't hae changed that much, and with the fact a speed will always read over probably means your speedo is not more accurate if anything.

It could be the cameras are faulty, or something on your car is making the radar go crazy or something. But when the pictures are inspected they will be able to see the distance you travelled between the two flashes and see you wern't speeding.

I was flashed by a camera doing 30 in a 40. Needless to say that I didn't get a commemorative certificate!

i know of someone who got booked despite doing the limit, they just looked at the photo and sent him a ticket without working out the distances. He ended up taking them to court as he was doing 5 mph under the limit and it was actually a motorbike on the side fekking about.

Needless to say he still has a clean licence

Also there's a risk or the camera people getting run over by cars if they're at the road side changing film. Another reason not all have film.

I've heard that you'd be suprised at how far over the limit you actually go. Theres supposed to be a "Drivers Survival Handbook" available, written by an ex traffic officer that is available to the public. Somebody must of seen it advertised somewhere? I'm tempted to get one.

the actual tolerance is listed on the think website,

5% due to speedo inaccuracies, plus or minus 2 mph as its impossible to keep a steady speed with your foot

so in the case of 30 its 31.5 plus the 2 mph so 33.5 mph is the safe lower limit for aggressive cameras, some are accountable for 10% giving you 35mph tops
