Can anyone please advise where the GPS antenna is and how to get to it. the sat nav started to indicate satellite signal problems but still managed to plot correct position. Now it can't even plot position. I have seen posts indicating connection or water ingress problems can occur but notseen any info on how to get at the antenna.

thanks in anticipation.

The GPS antenna is built into the base of your normal radio antenna on the roof (at top of windscreen). You'll notice that the mounting base is bulkier than on a non-satnav mondeo.

I'm afraid I can't be any more help with dismantling it though... I'm sure it's been mentioned before though; try searching around the board a bit

actually its not underneath the light, and those are a pig to get rid off

put your sun visors down, and look closer to the windscreen and you should see a plastic cover,

hope this helps

, btw im not certain if that applies to MK3 vehicles, but if it doesent i think the cover that your on about does come off and needs a little force once you remove teh light unit

ok here goes....Ford diagnosed it this weekend and came to the conclusion that it needs a new head unit.....at an eye watering £1600 not inc labour!!!!!!!
good job i have an extended warranty for the car..saying that they tried to wiggle out of it first, saying the dont cover any optional extras made to the car..until i pointed out that A. i havent had the car for a month when i told them of the problem (so i will reject it) B. they advertised the car with sat nav which clearly at the moment it doesnt C. the unit also controls the heating etc which if i remember isnt an optional extra (even in Fords books!)
Also i noticed once that the touch screen sometimes flickers high and low (like when you put your lights on) and sometimes it freezes up ie no sound when you first start the car so you have to turn the head unit on/off.
i personally wouldnt pay this amount for the head unit as i would stick to my TomTom and i know for sure that if i had to pay for it myself i would kick of big style..who the hell heard of an £1600 head unit lasting 3 yrs?? i still have the original head unit for my 300zx and thats 11 yrs old and that works fine (but old fashioned).
oh yea..the mondy also requires a complete new passenger wing mirror as it doesnt fold in plus new sensors in back bumper as park assist is up the creek as well.
do you think Ford are just pushing the bill up on purpose?
i do!

extended warranty is good, epecially in this case... As for the touchscreen, it doesnt need coding to the car in the same way that the DVD drive and the actual radio section does so it shouldnt take them long...

Ask them if they keep the old touchscreen or does it get binned? if you can get your hands on it i could do with it for spares!!!

As for the wingmirror it could be a wiring issue and ask your dealer if they have carried out a Parking Aid reset as directed on TIS

But then again, if you can get it all done on warranty go for it.. Ford are notorious for trying to make money on service and parts
