I have a 97 (P) Mondeo GLX, apparently with traction control. With it off, the wheels spin in the wet, with it on â€" no difference. ABS appears to be working ok, the traction control button lights the orange light on the dash, but nothing else as far as I can see. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong and where to look?

when the orange light is on, traction control is off.

if the orange light is blinking when the wheels spin, then everything is fine on wet and on quick pull. the front is light and some load in the boot make things even worse. new tyres and lowered springs are small improvement.
