I am in the process of replacing the MLPS in my 98 V6 auto - to overcome harsh & erratic shifting (I hope!!!).
Got a new sensor and it has a moulded line on the centre piece which turns and a similar mark on the outer fixed case - these are lined up when bought. Also on the case is a white painted line that does not line up.
My neighbour reckons this is because they calibrate these at manufacture and the white line is the recalibrated mark & the one that should be lined up prior to installation.
Anyone done this replacement who can advise if this is the case? Don't want to install the whole gubbins I had to take off to get to this sensor and then have to tear it down again to adjust it if its wrong.
