ok I went out earlyer and after turning engione off i went to start about a min later as my girlfriend came to car so i turned key back and noticed the temp gauge and milage had all gone blank well it had --- where numbers should be so i turned key and it just turned over and wouldnt start ???? I had to lock then unlock car before it went back to normal? i was playing with mirror switch when turned car off ? did i do something to ecu also it did not loose any information ie milage very odd anyone else had this

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. It was the sign that the battery was on its way out!
Eventually, the battery died all together and a new one resloved the problem!

ive had that as well. the headlamps also flicker for a split second. been doing it for 6 months now.battery been tested and all is well.
weird !!

Every blue moon I can see my mileage flicker for a split second and display --, very weird.

I've had that on a couple of blue moons too but assumed it was just my eyes playing tricks on me as I was never looking dead at the display!

Yep, I saw it do that the other day as well. It must be some sort of ECU refresh thing, not sure what could cause the lights to flicker though.
