Hi,
My son has a problem with water leaking into the boot of his car, and filling the spare wheel well. We have tried spraying the outside of the hatch area with a pressure washer with him inside, but we cannot see any leaks.
I have taken the rear light clusters off, but there does not seem to be any leaks from there.
Youtube has a video which shows some holes covered by tape behind the bumper of a Ford Fiesta, that causes leaks on that car, but I don't know if the KA+ has the same problem.
Before I start taking the car apart, does anyone know where the water could be coming from?
My son took the car to the local Ford dealer, and they told him that they did not know of any problems that might cause the issue, that it would cost him £500 for them to inspect the car, they would need it for at least 1 week, and any fixes would be charge on top of the £500 plus parts, + VAT.
That does not sound like a good option, so does anyone know of a Ford specialist in the Southampton area who would have experience of this sort of thing, and would know where to look for problems?

Hi Nick. We don't have a solution but do have the exact same problem. Its not the seals or light cluster. We can replicate the leak with a hose but can't trace it back. We are also in Southampton so please let us know if you manage to solve the problem.

Hi Steve, We have not yet solved the problem. We drove it through the car wash with my son in the back with the seats down and there seemed to be some water coming past the seal. I have tried softening the rubber edge with "Nextzett - Gummi Pflege Stick - Rubber Care - 100ml - Delsol Rubber Seals CRX" which I have used successfully on other cars as it softens rubber seals that have gone hard. We have not had any rain recently so not seen whether that has solved the problem.
There are a number of youtube videos showing duct tape peeling off etc which leads to leaks, but they require the rear bumper to be taken off, and I am not keen to try that. hence looking for a Ford specialist in the area who has experience of taking the bumper off and fixing leaks.

Took it to Segensworth Autos today. They have re-aligned the tail gate at is was incorrectly adjusted on its hinges. Also the catch for the tailgate has been moved in to its full adjustment. Will see what happens when it rains. I am not confident as our does not appear to leak round the seal and it looks in good condition. Will keep you posted!
