what are the symptoms before a water pump fault??
my car has 230k km (aproximately 145k miles) and i'm listening a strange noise from the right side of the engine (its the pump or the alternator).

It will just break up inside with no warning sign.
Id get it changed to be on the safe side
but it doesnt do a strange noise when is going to break??

If it is the pump its self it could be part of the plastic blade has broke/ the backing plate has come lose making the noise maby.

My old st24 done the same, once i removed it i found it to be the backing plate inside the pump to casue it.

does it get faster (the sound) when you rev it ?

The alt is on the far rear left of the engine by the way :)
now i'm thinking better, i was wrong
if i look from the front of the car, the water pump is on right (near the air box) and the alternator on left, correct ?

the sound comes from the left side of the engine. yeah, when i throttle the noise increases

yes
What sort of noise is it? Belts, idler pulleys and tensioners can make their own noises.
the belt and tensioner are brand new. the noise is like a blow, but its strange. perhaps its the alternator bearing ?!
Is it a "putt putt putt putt" sound from the front left-hand side of the engine?

the sound is constant, and incriases as the rev.

it comes from the left side, below the mount
Oh dear...another casualty?...
