rug doctor'd a new (second hand) car - took 9 hours and it still looks dirty!
I like rug doctor, i used to be a professional valeter and so used some far stronger chemicals that do a better job but rug doctor smells really nice and have used it on my own vehicles many times.

woke up with so sore back and wrists and everything lol.
so do you run it with water mixed with detergent first then rinse water after?
ran out of time after 3 passes on drivers seat and the water still came out brown.
so just did one pass on other seats, carpets and mats.
now it feels a bit sticky, i think i need to rinse again a few more times.

I dont rinse after, just use the solution diluted marginally stronger than instructions (were men lol) and d as many passes as required then go over once more with just suction an allow to dry.

Had a real problem getting it into peoples heads when i was a valeter that they MUST leave windows open till its dry else they will get mould but people are idiots and ignore you but then want to complain when they got a moldy interior lol

I think I gave too much rug doctor juice, so it was sticky to touch afterwards.
Of course returned the unit the other day and I don't fancy paying another hire fee so rinsed manually by trying to soak up the detergent using wet microfibre.
A lot better now after about 100 passes lol. I think I will have to do another 100 passes, and that's just the seat cushion.
Lucky the weather has been fine and will be for another couple of days.
Still, it wasn't exactly how I planned to spend New Year's Day...

Yeah, but did you tell them that before you started or afterwards as it started raining. :p
How long does it take to dry out?

You could treat it to one of those nice breathable car covers, if you can stand the hassle of removing/replacing it.

Oh you rented the machine as well?
I just buy the fluid, i dont dispense it though a machine either though i can, being a former valeter i use a 6L pump bottle with a lance and spray an area and bush by hand before sucking it out with my wet and dry.

Doing the way i do means you can target areas with the spray and bush you cant easily do with a bulky head and using a crevice tool when sucking out, you have much stronger suction and extract more than you do with the wide wet heads.

Before and reminded again when finished but people ignored the warnings a surprising amount.

in the summer a car can be fully dry inside 24 hours but in the winter it can be a couple of days before its dry deep inside the seats.

I also advised that when they were driving it to crank up the heat and run the Aircon as a dehumidifier as that speeds up drying significant amount.

I don't have a wet and dry and thought I'd have enough time to do it with rug doctor hire. Boy was I wrong.
I think your method is definitely way to go, even if I have to buy a wet and dry, which can come in handy for other purposes later on.

If you buy a wet and dry keep it exclusively for wet only, if used dry, dust will get in the inners and when moisture also gets in there it will create mud which holds moisture in places you really dont need it and the dirt alone will shorten life even without that.

Also make sure you keep all parts separate after use for a minimum of 24hrs to make sure no moisture remains in any part of the machine before packing it away, it will prolong its life significantly.

bought a wet and dry and started rinsing and sucking up - unfortunately the weather's a bit dodgy, mostly overcast and a bit of drizzle but it's quite breezy so it's not too bad. the sun 's come out so i might chance and dry it outside for the next couple of hours before sun sets.
i will have to carry on for one more day, at the very least.

We had a banging summer, literally the best on record with weeks and weeks of blazing sun with zero rain and also hit a new all time record of 40c but we are repaying that now with near constant rain and when it does go a day or two without rain the temp drops to negative c at night and struggling to get above 0c in the day.

With the cost of Gas now, ill take the rain and the milder temps over dry and sub zero though!

I'd rather have sub zero (not that we get that over where I am!) mainly because both of my car leak of rain...
It's still raining so it's not a seat cleaning weather. So ripped out el cheapo alarm today, extremely satisfying getting rid of miles of black insulation tape and black wires which seem to be going everywhere.
Spent fair bit of time to figure out which wires to chop and re-splice, didn't want to call a sparky just in case I snipped wrong wires and bricked the car...

i could do, but then that would mean finding more money i don't have for the extension, it's already look at £70k and i've still got to buy the kitchen and the appliances and the tiles and the shower and toilet etc :(

I have fitted covers to my caravan over the years, seems like a good idea until its weathered a bit then you
have to remove a dirty cover and store it until you refit it.

Harder to clean the cover than the caravan itself. No matter how soft and how they claim it wont scratch the windows
or caravan they do when the wind constantly causes it to rub. Even 2 pieces of PTFE rubbed together will wear eventually.

I have a feeling that the driver's door is a bit harder to open (both from inside and outside) - I've left the car out for the past couple of weeks and it's been raining.
I haven't been locking the doors because it's inside the gates and who's gonna steal it. Just opened the door and it triggered the siren - quite puzzled because if the door's already open, it means the alarm should be off anyway.
