Does anybody what the circled thing is and what does it do?
I was thinking about removing the egr pipe for good but noticed that there are 2 pipes on the egr pipe that are linked to the device circled.
On the first pic the device appears to have the pipes joined. Is this ok to do.
its the Differential Pressure Feedback sensor.
It measures the pressure difference across an oriface plate inside the EGR tube. From this pressure a gas flow can be calculated by the ECU so it knows how much to open the EGR valve. You can run with it disconnected but it will generate a fault code.
More info enclosed ( aimed as US market but the same system is used on the mk1/2 Mondeo's )
Ive been running my V6 with the EGR valve disconnected for almost a year now, its running the best it ever has.
