Hi im sure a many of you have come across this problem while driving im getting the dreaded glow plug light flashing then engine dies, turn key and it bump start again, engine idles lumpy aswell.
Here is what ive done so far im posting all this as i hope i can help someone else who is having same problem. here goes
connected fault code reader retreaved codes P0251 INJECTION PUMP METERING CONTROL A. P1211 INJECTION CONTROL PRESSURE HIGHER/LOWER THAN DESIRED(ENGINE RUNNING).
no1. removed fuel filter checked for metal deposits from filter none present. new filter fitted. so hopefully pump is ok
no2 cleaned egr valve very gunked up. no change. Blanked EGR valve off.
no3. replaced camshaft sensor no change
replaced crank sensor no change.
done leak off test for 3 minutes at idle see pic for result seems injectors on cylinder no 2,3,4 are leaking back if anyone can elaborate on this result id be very grateful thank you Bottle Drinkware Liquid Solution Glass bottle
bought f super connector installed formidable software checked injector codes. all present an correct to sticker.
pu tBG244 DIESEL FUEL INJECTOR ENGINE CLEANER in with tank of fuel to see if it helps at all.
i think my next step is to replace injector on no 4 cylinder i understand injectors go in firing order so ill make sure i recode the new injector correctly.
only other things i can think of is pressure switch on common rail, or maybe pump.
Any advise would be much appreciated thank you.

Hi Glenn,

Good work on the diagnostics. Your leak-off test result has almost certainly highlighted your problem.

I would be pretty certain that your rail pressure sensor is not at fault.

If you have any doubts about the injector coding order just read them from the ECU and compare with the labels on the injector(s) you decide to replace.

At least 3 knackered injectors there.

The huge imbalance between those wont help at all.

3 or 4 new injectors or run it until it stops or trade it in i think.

hi peter the good works on the diagnostics is only down to this awsome forum which has helped me so much. it will be nice to give something back to the forum. so hopefully my mistakes and sucesses will help others. thank you for you advise. ive got a injector socket coming and ive found someone doing R00501Z injectors for £125.00 seems reasonable i think? thanks again.

also hi purple thanks for your comment thats made me feel better now as i wasnt to sure if the leak off test was really bad result or not as i had nothing to compare it with. anyway thank you ill get back and let you know how i get on. Must just say installing the drivers for the f super was a pig on win 7. if anyone reading this needs help let me know
thanks again for both your advise. also if anyone wants to borrow my code reader in clacton area your more than welcome

You need to ensure that they have a new code as properly reconditioned injectors need to have a new code or they won't run correctly.

Have a look on the Delphi site for your nearest specialists they have a list of approved recon agents. I personally bought mines from Swadlincote diesel and at the time they were £105 + vat plus a refundable deposit that they gave back when I sent them the old ones.

I have to say if I was replacing three then I would do all four but you certainly need 1 and eventually all three of the faulty ones done sooner rather than later.
