What Should I be Looking For...?

Hey guys

New bie here so I'm hoping I've posted this on the right place.

Looking at a 2002 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Zetec. Has about 114,000 miles, full MOT til next Feb and FSH. Seems clean inside and out but I'm not going to view it until tomorrow.

I've had my fingers burnt recently by paying £2100 for a Laguna and the engine seizing within 11 days so I'm wary now about what I'm buying.

The guy that's selling the Mondeo will take £1600 for it...does this sound right? And what sort of things should I be looking out for when I view it?

Any advice would be great...can't afford to have my fingers burnt again.

Cheers

Sagging rear bumper, corroded alloys not sure bout the 2.0 but the 2.2 can suffer from injector trouble and the engine idle is erratic and the car hesitates.

Good luck
OK thanks for that Wolsey, much appreciated.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Anything I should check out or listen for when the car is running etc?
Rust along the bottom of the doors.

Has the DMF been changed?
Thanks Grimwades, I'll keep an eye on that.

Sorry for sounding like a complete newbie...but what's the DMF's?
Dual mass flywheel, a right cu*t of a thing from what i have heard.

Most flywheels are solid but ford decided to make a spring loaded contraption from i can work out.

Yeh, actually I remember reading about that yesterday...sounds like a right b*ggar.

Cheers lads, thanks for the tips.

Incidently, just found out this car has had 5 previous owners...starting to have doubts about it now!

I think most cars at that age and millage will have that many previous owners. It's not out of the ordinary. Considering your recent "lose" though, i'd be just as skeptical as you.
