What's Your MPG?

Hi All,

Just wondering what everyone is getting to the gallon? I've just worked mine out for a full tank (ish). I've got a 2006 Mondeo GHIA X 130 2.0l Diesel, and covered 480 miles using 50 litres diesel, which works out at about 43.7 MPG. I was expecting a little more than this to be honest. I'd say about 400 miles of this was on the motorway, and not driven too hard.
Cheers

Mine isn't brilliant TBH, and I'd have to seriously consider getting another diesel. Probably go back to petrol next.

I'm probably getting about the same as you at the moment, so not happy really. :(
Mines a 2003 lx 130 and I got 60mpg driving at 70mph, max 80mph on a 170 mile run, of mainly motorway and A roads. But if I drive it hard then I get around 45-50mpg.
On my 03 plate 2.0 TDCi 5 speed, I get approx 650 miles on a full tank. 1/2 A roads, a bit of motorway and the rest local driving around time. I am very impressed coming form a golf Gti,6speed DSG, where I was getting approx 360 miles no matter how I drove.
i get 48.9mpg i fill for £59 and get 550miles from my tank and thats pretty much driving quick everywhere half motorway and half backroads
2002 2.0 duratec petrol. After a recent service im getting around 32mpg... expensive way to travel.... i can see a diesel on the horizon  .

hell he must have a bad EGR and a split turbo pipe if you can tell its a diesel that far away....
just a word guys, accurate MPG calculations neen brim-brim mileages over 5 tankfulls to get an average, use something like these :-

http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php

heres my car - id do 850 miles every school week on contract, mainly A/B roads "extra urban", trip average mph around 32mph, trip shows 55-58mpg (it lies)

http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/detail/379599.html
I get around the low 70's mpg motorway miles (sticking to the limit), and currently do around 42-45mpg commuting (no motorway).
im running on Total Excellium and redex additive and after 2 tanks it is showing benefits in less noise and better torque
I've been using Texaco Techron for some time now and it's started to make a noticble difference in mpg and overall performance
60-70mpg?..... :woot: :woot:

can anyone back these figures up over (say) 6 months use/50,000 miles?

id be very interested, the very best on the spiritmonitor site is 54.1mpg , over a hell of a lot of miles! (3 years and 150,000 miles)

Just started using Road Trip on my iPhone to record fuel consumption, always brim to brim, 1st tank, heavy commuting and only around 16 miles on motorways plus standing still in traffic for a lot of the time, 461 miles, 39.24mpg - computer showing 44.3mpg

2nd recorded tank, still commuting with around 50 miles on motorways at legal limit, 454 miles, 42.76mpg - computer showing 47.2mpg
I've just worked mine out after filling up today.

460 miles out of 55 litres.

That works out about 38MPG.

I'm actually quite happy with that, given that most of my driving has been 4 miles to work, then 4 miles back.

I'm also a bugger for leaving the car to defrost with the engine running (i live on a private road, well out of the way)

I guess mines not so bad then after all, but there still seems to be quite a difference with a few people... Are the additives like Redex really any good then?
I get about 450-470 miles per tank brim to brim thats prob 60/40 split town and motorway driving, and i drive quite hard most of the time, using millers aswell, does make the car quieter.

would it not be better to say how many miles people are getting to a full tank?

if i fill mine up full then i get about 400 to 430 driving in traffic to work and back :(

would love to hit 500 to a tank!
