Im going to change rear wheel bearing on right rear wheel on my wifes Mk3 fiesta but the nut is very tight. Isn't it right that the nut should be turned ANTI clock wise to be removed

Yes as you sit in the drivers seat the right hand rear nut has a normal right hand thread (anticlockwise to slacken), its the rear left (nearside) wheel bearing that has a left hand thread (clockwise to slacken), they are however very tight as they are fixed clearance tapered bearings, the nuts are tightened to 260NM (tight!) you just need a longer bar or more brute force!

Talking of wheel bearings, how much more difficult is it to change a front wheel bearing, and does the same rule apply with the clockwise/anticlockwise? The car in question is a MK3 Golf.
