i have a 1.8 td mark 2 endura de. which oil do i use?

What year is that?

Coz for the TD engine there are two types of 'recommendation'...

If the built date is pre- May 1999 then the recommended oil is 10W40

From May 1999 onwards it's 5W30

20W/20 will kill the Endura!

Bascially you will need oil which has cold end protection of 10W or below, and hot end protection of 30 or above...

So if your car is made before May 1999, 10W/40
If your car is made after May 1999, 5W/30

Don't put any 20W/20 into the engine!

i spoke to a m8 of mine who's a mechanic he said you could possibly blow the seals in verious places in the engine i would change it asap or risk loosing the engine.

20W/20 is that kind for motorbike... not car engine!

what year is the mondeo? We can recommend what oil you should be using, but for you own sake, get those 20W/20 out!

in that case then the oil you should be using is 10W/40. (or 5W/40 if you can afford to do so)

But just get the 20W/20 out ASAP otherwise you are going to lose the engine!

it says diesel oil 20w/20 on the drum. i wouldnt have thought there were many diesel motor bikes about my dad has it in his transit aswell is it alreet in there or not?

well i said motorbike coz it's what my mates buy the 20W/20 for...

Anyway... different engines have different specification on what oil it needs... even on the container it says it's for diesel it doesn't mean it fits....

For the later ones (Mk2 post- May 1999) the spec for oil is 5W/30 instead of 10W/40... and a lot of people were saying that i have got the wrong oil coz that's in the petrol section... but that's what the spec says... so there you go...

Your engine needs 10W/40, keep that in your mind!
(or if you want a bit better cold starting ability... 5W/40.. of course that comes with a higher price tag!)

that was the oil that got used for the long life service set up on those cars but I decided to use it as normal. it was castrol slx 0-30 and said at the top of the bottle 'specialy formulated for use with VAG'

it was green, lol.
