had these in an old astra, they melted the headlamp switch and the indicator stalk! Only safe to use with relays, but still illegal!!

I have them in my main beam, have had no probs. they have been in there for 2 years and 2 MOT's.

Had 80/100w in my old Escort, and that nearly caught fire on main beam, loads of smoke and a melted switch.

They're ok, but they're definitely not 110W equivalent. I bought a full set for my car and sent them back for a refund after fitting them. I ended up buying Philips Visionplus and I'm chuffed with them. Beware with the extra heat that proper 100W rated bulbs will produce. Most of the head lamp unit is plastic and may not like the extra warmth.
