To work with the factory alarm?

A aftermarket alarm can be fitted but not sure in what way you want it to work with the factory one?

The factory switces maybe bypassed to stop the original alarm sounding or the aftermarket alarm may fit aux switches.
The car has internal microphones to look for noise (don't know if on all specs). If I lock the car and then clap it sets the alarm off.

I guess the impact didn't make enough noise for that.

Ultrsonics, I think only the estate models and higher spec cars have these as standard.

Not sure if its the noise or movement inside the car that sets that off?
In my 2005 estate there is a microphone in the wiring under the dash (driver's side). With car unlocked this will turn on the inside light if I clap.

I think you have found the aircon temp sensor?

The estate sensors are in the front roof lamp. Unless you have an aftermarket system added?
Well I have it on mine, and it's started life as a LX spec.
Definitely a condenser type microphone, just hanging out of the wiring loom.

I don't have temp controlled aircon, just manual set point adjustment.

If I get a chance I will put up a photo.

No, definitely microphone. Standard electret microphone with the little felt cover. We use truck-loads in our products at work.

Does not work like that, it will either be sensors that detect movement inside the car or sensors that detect a high pitch sound like glass breaking.
The shops used to demonstrate this by hitting 2 spanners together. The ringing sound sets off the alarm.

I guess the manufacturer didnt want people complain of over sensitive aarms like the old aftermarket ones with motion & shock sensors.
i have sat in the car with alarm on, nothing , turned radio on , nothing , even jangled keys :(
A good loud clap works for me. If you have the mic under the dash then reach under and tap it.
