Hi guys, I recently had a problem with my 2005 2.2 TDCi. I'd been visiting friends and the car had been running great, I driven about 50 miles. But she suddenly began to cough and splutter when trying to accelerate. I nursed her along until i had a safe place to pull in though at this point she just cut out. Called the RAC, the guy came out and ran a scan. codes were p0251 and I think the second was p2110. He tried to start it but fuel pressure was low. Around 11000 psi. He tried disconnecting the flue pressure regulator on the pump, that made no difference, then disconnected the fuel rail sensor, this also made no difference either so decided to just tow it back home.
Anyway got it home but he, the RAC guy, thought it was a faulty injector, thus bleeding off pressure. however, I had a set of injectors from a running car so just tried them in to see if this would at least see a boost in pressure at the rail. I did however note the position of the original injectors and noted down the codes on the preplacement. However, it made no difference to the pressure so I went back to the originals, again ensuring they went back in the correct order.
So, my thought was the high pressure pump, but I'd already bought a service kit because it's due so just went ahead and replaced the fuel filter to see if this would make any difference. I then bled the system, used a vacuum pump to draw fuel from the tank and into the filter, then I cracked the injector lines and cranked the engine until fuel began to flow. However, I even though I now have around 26700 psi on the fuel rail there is still no start. It's like she's trying but just wont catch.
I have read a lot of forums over this past week and many seem to point to a faulty lift pump but thge TDCi's or at least some of them do not have a lift pump. So does anyone have any thoughts on this.
Thanks
