Just came back to a mondeo after having traded my old one in for a vectra.. Still trying to work the engine out (2.2 sport tdci). It has unbelievable torque at 1700 - 3000 rpm, then quite ordinary.. might be just me, as I came from a 3.0 v6 diesel.

Any how. Other than the cylinder size, are there any other differences between it (2.2) and a 2.0. Are the brakes / alternator / wheel bearings, etc the same?

Only asking, because the vectra was a complete cow.. Haynes didn't even cover it.. hence the return to Ford. Hopefully everything will be as straight forward as the ST200 and the no tdci I had prior

The 2.2 is a French engine, the 2.0 is a Ford unit.

Think the brakes are the same across the range.

2.2 has a larger diameter clutch

Does that mean the flywheel will be different size too, when i asked about dmfs some time ago, for future reference when mine packs up, someone said a 2.2 dmf may possibly be stronger for my 2.0 115tdci
