turn the music down or put a rubber washer between the metal of the door and the speaker to act as a suppressor to the vibrations

 

take the door apart and find out what is rattling and put some foam between the part and the door, also sound proof the inner door skin, might help

 

sound profing makes a huge difference, go get a door speaker kit they dont cost much and make everything quieter...wella apart from the speaker unless you use the kit wrong

 

One of the most common things that rattles is the palstic bit for the window winder.

What you should do is stick some sounddeadening right behind the speaker , and put it around the speaker hole before screwing hte speaker in.

Its either that or overkill, and skin the whole door in dynamat/whatever.

The Ka is prettly rattly anyway i have found (compared to other cars)

you want to stick the material to the metal part of the door, you could even take the black material off, then stick the dynamat stuff to the door, and re-stick the black material over the dynamat, but it isn't really needed.

yes thats the balck stuff. should i cover that whole area or just around the speakers

 

depends how far you want to go.

If you were to do it all, you would want to do the "skin" of the door, (the part that you will see when you take the black material off.)

But I would just do around the speaker if you are not going for a massive ICE installation.

Is it the shaft the winder connects to touching the door card now and again or is it the back of the window winder touching the door card now and again, causing a rattle?

 

No problems! Glad the pic came in handy, I think Paul is quite a good model hehe My other door is covered in gaffa tape, does that do the same type of thing, or should I try and buy some more of the stuff thats on the other door?

 

I wouldn't bother, its ford vain attempt at sound proofing, and gaffa tape will do as good a job as the ford stuff.

 

it is the lower part of the winder winder which is free to rotate, always rattling and also i think it is actually the whole door card. but i am gonna take it all apart again tommorow, and buy the dynamat stuff. by adding foam it should stop it rattling, but where would i put the foam?

 

ahh so the bit you hold onto, I honestly haven't got a clue how you would go about stopping that from rattling, without locking it so it cannot rotate. But this would make putting the up and down hard.

i know. i might cut a round plastic piece and kinda make the gap smaller between the rotating thing and the winder hoping it to stop rattling?

 

ahh you could do yeah, it might help, failing that some after market window winders, not the chav type, just some better quality ones.

the one in the door card? yes means people cannot see that you have changed the speakers to aftermarket ones.

 

i kept that on, does it even come off? i was talking about the ones that come with the sepakers?

 

ahh i'm with you, god thats twice today I have got mixed up on this forum, no I don't think it does. I don't see the point the one in the door card protects the speaker enough.

I would say its another thing to cause a vibration, as in the front of the speaker grill and the back of the door card grill, if they are close enough.

 

yeh that i'd say is the main reason. i work something out tommorow if the weather is good lol, weather has been sh*t this week.
