Not recognising the key. I hope you have a spare key to try?

You need 2 unique working keys to create more keys without additional hardware/software. I bought a MK3 Mondeo with
2 keys and on the way home I removed one key from the ring and the car would not start. Silly me didn't check.
Luckily the key was intermittent so I managed to create a 3rd key after some trial and error, the one key would only work
sometimes and not at others.

Maybe worth splashing out £20 or so for an OBDII dongle and the free forscan software, I prefer the USB version for Windows
laptops and tablets. There is an option to create keys using that.

Windows software is free which is a bonus although I bought the android version as well. Not tried creating a key with it but
the option is there.

Check with Forscan to see if the key count is zero.
