I am just about to remove the injectors on my 2003 Mk3 TDCi for refurbishment. Is there any important points to note when removing these (have ordered a socket from ebay).

What is the correct tightening torque when reinstalling them?

38lbft or 52 nm ..torques for injectors ...as quoted from second party.....There is no mistery with injectors you will need the injector spanner ..and you will need something to screw onto the top of the injector when you have it loosened .in order to get grip enought to jerk the injector up and out of its sealed chamber ..i had diffilclty finding something to match the thread and act as a handle until i discovereed the thread on the injector was exactly the same as the thread on an old track rod end i had lying about ..its a few years back now since i first done one of these but i still have the same trak rod end and i have used it as a removal tool for many injectors and its been borrowed by other guys ...When you are taking out the injectors mark each one relevant ot its hole ..from the timing chain end .ie ..1234...and this just to ensure ini case you are having them refurbed that they go back in the holes they come form ..if for nothing else its good practice ...when you are putting them back in make sure you haver a spanner and hold the body of the injector in line whilst you tighten the outer sleeve ..this to insure correct spray pattern and also to insure the holes for the leak off pipes face to the front..its a little trickey to do this whilst retaining the torque to the correct.nm..or lbft..but its dooable with a little practice and also while im at it its extreemly important to keep dirt out of the injector fuel supply lines ..the rigid metal ones whic connect eacht injector to the pump ...sooo on disconnecting each one have a cover for the end or each one ready or tape it over with gaffer tape ..Ford isnsist on renewing these and for good reason as they form a seal when tighened and this seal is indented in the belling at the ends and also for the reason that the new ones come wiht complete rubber sleeve boots to insure complete clenliness ....good luck with your job..s

I changed an injector recently and I am nearly sure Haynes said 47nm. I won't get to my copy till tomorrow but if no one else can confirm before then I'll check for you.
