Very helpful! I always knew I'd find a use for a clothes hanger one day.

 

He does not mention that the glove box door dampener is a challenge to release and reconnect. It is a plastic clip in more or less, the top left corner. Virtually impossible to see so have to release by feel; likewise to reinstall.

Had a Fraud garage break mine one time and they did not tell me. Of course, they would not repair as they did not break it. In the good old days, found a replacement at a breakers year and am very very careful ever since.

 

If the end clip breaks use a 1/2" tap washer to hold it on

 

Probably easier to fit that than adding a cable tie. Good idea.

 

i ve never had a problem releasing or refitting the damper to be honest.

 

Same here. Once you know how the damper is attached it's easy, but I found mine was broken when I had to take the glove box out for the first time recently. Glad I saved the damper from my previous car before I scrapped it.

The dampers always seem to break at the other end where it connects to the dashboard. I harvest them whenever I get the chance.
