Hi I'm looking to buy a ford ranger for work, looking at getting the 2003 to 2005 sort of mark, anyone ever had one or heard good bad things about them??

We have a fleet of 8 at Heathrow Airport (2005 model) and these have had a hard life..working airside..
We remove the gear selector for engaging 4WD to prevent abuse..

2 have had seized turbo actuators which resulted in new turbo units..
Front drive shaft gators have a habit of splitting with age..
Door hinges constantly need attention and our front doors are fitted with additional check straps as the OEM ones are not fit for purpose and when the wind catches the door it causes lots of damage to door skin and front wing.

Headlamp levelling motors have failed on almost all of our units.

Most common electrical fault is the ignition switch copper contacts which wear out and require a replacement switch.

Other than that they drive like barges with the huge knobbly tyres
