Hi Folks ,

I have a question .. I'm driving Focus 1.8 tddi 2001y. I have problem with the heating in the cabin . When I turn the regulator on hot , then is not blowing hot in the cabin . On cold is working fine , A/C also is working fine just don't have a hot air . I though that the heather core is blocked somewhere, so i do Flush a lot of rust come out but no result :( even become worst now i don't have hot air at all. Also the engine need long time like 10-15 minute to became in working temperature. After that I open the coolant tank and I check the temperature of the coolant inside with my finger it was totally cold, not warm at all . Does anyone of you know the problem or can help with some advice what to do. The outside temperature at the moment is -3 C and I'm freezing when I need to drive ....

Is it possible the thermostat to be stack open all the time ?

Thanks a lot in advance :)

Greetings to all

thermostats can stick open making it take longer to get to temp, or near to temp. for you to have no hot air in the car it will almost certainly be a locked heater matrix core, or the flaps arent moving to hot when the control is moved to hot.

i seem to remember an issue wth the cables (either the focus, early mondeo or mk4 fiesta, cant remember which im afraid) where the outer cables were slipping and although the controls turned as normal, the outer cable moved, rather than the inner cable being pushed/pulled, leading to controls not working.

I open the front plastic mask inside and I check when I move the control to hot i can hear the sound of the flaps I think that they are working fine ...because before there was a very little hot air in the car but now not at all ....

Tddi focus has an issue where the blades on the water pump come away, still marginally turns avoiding over heating of the engine but doesn't push the hot coolant into the matrix to hear the air. If you sit at idle for a long time with the heater off then turn it on low do you get a little heat then disappears quickly. Give that a try just to see but I've done a lot of water pumps for the same issue.

That's the problem that i have . When the engine is on working temperature then I turn the fan to blow hot for about 2-3 min. I have hot air after that slowly going to cold ....and after that totally cold ...

as above, sounds a bit like the pump...

the coolant expansion tank isn't always a good place for temperature checking, plus there is a risk of being burnt. The top radiator hose is the exit point of coolant from the engine, just hold that.
