Left part look like something was on top of it when the bonnet was closed, but

to the right looks like something pushed outwards.

Strange, how this is that plastic? Does anything rub it?

Did you get a tesponse to this...I have the exact same issue...

 

Underneath the injectors look like they are covered in oil but we have had no other issues. We have had a slight smell of fuel do investigating leaking injectors which I hope us the cause of the black stuff not an oil leak as I have read that is really bad!!

 

They have not logged in since creating this thread.

Fuel/Oil maybe degrading the plastic but signs of excessive heat on their photo also.

 

If you have a fuel leak from the injectors, this will over time be the result.
Had broken injector clamps on my MK1 2010 with injector leaks as a result.
Eventually the cover looked worse than on the picture above.
Replaced the the copper washer on the faulty injectors and all is well, also with the new cover.

 

Yeah have this issues now , what was the issue
