re set EGR after cleaning

Hiya all. I've just bin reading ETIS as i'd like to clean the egr valve on my 2.0 TDCI 140hp. The manual says that I am to re-set the EGR valve with the diagnostic tool after replacement. I have pro-scan and can't see a function in there to do it. Has anyone had theirs off to change it or clean it and how did you get around this?

dont know if any aftermarket diagnostic tools can do this function, but on IDS u reset the egr valve learned values

What are learned values ? Is it those that the ECU has learnt particular to my driving style?

Hi, it is a myth that ecu's adapt to driving style, they just calibrate from the the sensors and decides what is required at any given time. Thus it is adapting to the car and the conditions, not the driver, a ecu isn't really that clever.
