WARNING ABOUT AUTODOC.CO.UK

Hi all, i want to warn you guys about Autodoc.co.uk

Do not buy from them for many reasons.

First of all, they are not a UK company at all, they are in Germany and use a UK website to trick people into thinking they are ordering something from the UK but it will ship from Germany.

Then there is the nightmare of Warranty claims.

I have had 5 weeks of them dragging their heels trying delay a claim for an alternator and even them demanding a photo of the log book in a desperate attempt to be able to claim i ordered the wrong part (was clear that was the route they were trying though the conversations we had).

Then when they finally conceded defeat and agreed to replace it, they wanted me to ship the bad one back to Germany!

I of course kicked off and threatened to get UK trading standards involved and would try and get the UK website shut down as its deceiving people and you cannot have someone buy from a .co.uk website then expect them to return to another country, it scammy.

So finally, after a whole 5 weeks of driving a car with an alternator on its last legs, they have agreed to ship out a replacement without return following my threats.

I will never buy from them again and i will also make dam sure i research a company thoroughly from now on to make sure they are actually in the UK.

When it arrives, i still have the pain in the arse job of changing it, not fun on the V6 :(

I know i fry Alternators very quickly but this one lasted only 6 months which is not right, given it had a two year warranty, your dam right im claiming when it cost me ÂŁ132.75!

Price has gone up since i bought it, here is the Alternator i bought, UK website but NOT a UK company!

Nothing to determine, its just the demand i put on them, spikes north of 200A  but 6 months from a brand new alternator is a joke, used genuine visteon units last twice as long but thought i might get longer out of a brand new pattern part but no......

When I buy stuff (should I said "used to", until global shipping out of UK and EU skyrocketed), the stuff out of Latvia or Lithuania were good and pricewise reasonable too. (Not just car parts)
I used to buy Castrol Syntranx gear oil from German eBay, which worked out well even with the shipping. I don't know what's it like now though. Where am I gonna get the Castrol stuff, all the other stuff is garbage and Ford here wants to sell their stuff at around twice of the price of the Castrol.

100% agree. Autodoc are a nightmare. I would never use them again. Ordered left and right rear metal brake lines a couple of years ago. When they arrived, although the bags they came in had the correct part numbers, the parts inside were both left hand ones.
I had the same problem. Asking for photos and then never responding to them. Message again, and get a new person who asks all the same questions. I ended up with emails from about 10 different people. They absolutely refused to acknowledge they were in the wrong.
Opened a pay pal dispute in the end, and got my money back that way

Did you get a bunch of emails reminding you to provide 'missing information' but never told what that missing information was?

They delayed and dragged their heels as much as they could with me and i was really struggling to not cross the line between being firm and being abusive in frustration.

Just dug out my emails with them. See below. Looking back now, it's comical, but at the time I was absolutely fuming.
I sent all the emails to paypal. In the end, they told me that after reading everything, they couldn't decide who was at fault!!! WTF? So they refunded me, but let Autodoc get away with it and weren't going to chase them for the money. It wasn't even for a lot of money. Just the principle and hassle

Hello

Further to my telephone conversation with Richard Black, I attach some photos of the part you sent me. As I explained, I fitted the right hand side brake line first. When I tried to fit the left hand one, it wouldn’t fit. Upon examining it and comparing it with my old one, I realised I had received 2 right hand brake lines. Even though the packaging has the correct part numbers on it.

My photos show, the packaging. The new incorrect brake line next to my old left hand brake line. As you can see, they are exactly opposite.

Could you please arrange collection and a refund of this part. I desperately need my vehicle back on the road and will have to get the correct part from Ford in the next couple of days

Thank you

Hello

I haven’t heard back from you since I replied to your email and told you there wasn’t an image attached. That was 3 days ago

As I told you right at the start of this fiasco, I need my car on the road. How you think it acceptable to leave a customer waiting this long, is beyond belief.

I have now bought the correct part direct from Ford. It has been fitted and my car is back on the road.

Would you please arrange collection of your part and provide me with a full refund

Needless to say, I will not be using Autodoc again

Thank you

Do you suppose there is any chance I can deal with the same person? I’ve now had email conversations with at least 4 people.

Just to confirm. You are asking me yet again, to provide you with photos and measurements, even though I have already done this twice?

Well I am kindly informing you that I provided Richard Black with photos and measurements last week during our email conversation. He then sent me an email and asked me to look at the picture he had attached and send him my response.

I responded immediately to say that there was no attachment in his email. That was the last I heard from him.

I can send you more photos but not until I get home from work later. I do remember the length was 860mm. Although surely they are the same length left and right, so don’t understand why you need it

Sent from my iPhone

I have sent you the photos and measurements as requested. Can you confirm that you have received them please, so that we can move on to my refund.

Thank you

Dear lorrance gary

Thank you for the reply.

In order to check for the compatible spare parts for your particular car’s model, we kindly ask you to provide the following car’s technical details:
We require:
  • Car Brand
  • Car Model
  • The exact date of production, namely the month and year.
  • Fuel Type
  • Engine Power KW/HP
  • Vin-code of the car. VIN - a unique code of the vehicle, consisting mainly of 17 characters.
The Vehicle Identification number is indicated on the integral parts of the body or chassis and on the specially made number plates , it can be found as well in the car’s log book, vehicle registration certificate, warranty certificate / technical inspection certificate or in car’s insurance.

*Original part number (OE), that is indicated on the part itself.

As soon as you provide all the requested information, we will check for the required spare part in the shortest time and we will contact you by all means.

Thank you for choosing our online shop.

Why do you need all this information now? What happened to measurements. Surely you only need this information if you are planning on replacing the part with the correct one. As I have said over and over again. I have already bought the correct part and fitted to my vehicle and it is now back on the road.

The only thing I want from you is a refund and to have this wrong part collected

Just in case you don’t know, I was sent an email this morning from Mitch Thompson telling me the photos and measurements were no good. I am surprised to be hearing from you again, as I seem to just being passed from person to person.

It really shouldn’t be complicated.

YOU SENT ME THE WRONG PART. MISTAKES HAPPEN. PLEASE COLLECT PART. SEND ME REFUND. FINISHED. SIMPLE

Ah, yet again someone new for me to deal with.

Has anybody actually read what my problem is????

Yes It is the part I ordered. The problem is

YOU SENT ME 2 PARTS THE SAME. 2 RIGHT HAND SIDE PIPES. NOT ONE LEFT HAND AND ONE RIGHT HAND. THAT IS WHAT I ORDERED. THAT IS NOT WHAT I GOT. DO YOUR TECHNICIANS ACTUALLY KNOW THIS???? THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BEYOND A JOKE.

I am not returning this part at MY expense. YOU SCREWED UP. Get someone to collect it.

And I suppose I will have to send it to Germany?

Your website is very misleading. Nothing about parts coming from Germany and no mention of how long they take to be delivered.

I have raised a claim against you with paypal. I am also looking into reporting you to trading standards.

I will not give up on this. I don’t care how many different people email me.

Dear Mr. Gary Lorrance,

Thank you for the email.

In order for us to see that 2 pcs for one side have been sent - you need to provide us a photo of both parts of ours on one plane or a photo of the one, that you didn’t mount next to the one you installed in the car if you can take a photo like that please. Then we will be able to pick up the item at our expense without any issues.

We are here to help you.

On our web site you can clearly see, that we are a German company as well as Delivery terms and conditions.

Best regards,

Ok. I will try to do this. Obviously there is not much on show as most of the pipe is behind the suspension arm. I won’t be able to do this until the weekend.

Thank you

Dear Gary,
Thank you for your response.
According to the manager in charge the pictures you provided are not informative enough.
We would require pictures with indicated dimensions/measures.
Looking forward to hear from you soon.
Best Regards,
Mitch Thompson
If you are satisfied with the received assistance please choose "Satisfied" when your get an automatic satisfaction rate request.

This is some kind of long drawn out joke right? You are a company of comedians surely.

You are the fifth or possibly sixth person I have dealt with. Why can’t I deal with the same person all the way through?

I can send you more photos of the incorrect part you sent me. What would that prove? As for measurements, I have given you a measurement from end to end. What more could I possibly do?

Surely these left and right hand parts are the exact same length anyway, just sided. So what is the point of comparing?

The fact is, I was sent 2 right hand side parts, both identical. One I fitted, the other one I cannot fit. What is so damn complicated about this?

As I have explained several times, I have replaced the incorrect part with a correct one from Ford at a greatly increased cost to me.

I have thrown away all the old damaged parts now. All I have left is the incorrect part, the bags the 2 parts came in and the box they came in.

A mistake happened. Period. Just to explain once again. I received a bag with a right hand side part number on it and inside was a right hand side brake line.. Perfect.

I also received a bag with a left hand side part number on it, but inside was a right hand brake line.. Not perfect.

I just want a refund. I am just sorry I didn’t google your company before I placed this order. I would have seen the many many dissatisfied customers who complain about you’re your impossible returns procedure, even when you are clearly in the wrong.

Rest assured I will be adding to these comments.

As far as you are concerned or care, my car could have been off the road for weeks now waiting for you to rectify this pathetic situation.

Your customer service and more importantly, customer care is non-existent.

I very much look forward to receiving a reply from you… and then being ignored for several days…. And then getting an email from someone else, asking for photos and measurements.

This is what has happened all the way through dealing with your company. I can’t remember who I spoke to originally. I was also contacted by telephone. Then I had emails with Richard Black and then with Audrey Frost, now with you. I wonder who will be next??

Have a nice day

That is sooooo similar to the experience i had, the back and forth emails that never seem to get anywhere mirror my experience and wonder how many others have ordered from them and regretted it!

The customer service team seem to have a policy of trying to frustrate people into giving up, they are not a company i will deal with again.

I was so pissed off when i found out they were not a UK based company, its deceptive using a .co.uk website, bordering fraudulent in my opinion and im surprised its being allowed.

Must be loads of people.
I can't believe so many get away with it appearing to be in UK
It's like eBay though, even when you click on UK sellers only, and you get a listing that says London or wherever, scroll right down to the bottom, and they're in China

I dont mind sellers being in another country as long as i know before im buying but there are certain things i wont buy from abroad, car parts are one of those things i will always buy from the UK with the exception of being tricked this time!

99.9% of everything electronic i buy is ordered from china, i live on Aliexpress and Banggood, half the price compared to buying from the UK with the exception of Pi's they are the rare case of something being considerably cheaper when bought from the UK......

I got mine out thro' the top without having to pop track rod end. ( should amend that to say 'managed, just about, to get mine out thro' the top')

yeah, i hurt like mad because of my back issues but it had to be done and im a happy bunny now its done.

I wanted to listen to music while i did it so gingerly undid the power cable from the alternator and cable tied a jiffy bag over it to prevent shorts, that would have been exciting if i had touched it against ground lol.

I had a charger on the battery but turned my subs off to spare my neighbours ha ha.

I need to be on my best behavior here at the moment, im at war with one of the neighbors and hes due his day in court so i need to be whiter than white and the victim and not do anything to allow people to accuse me of antisocial behavior.

While i was doing the alternator, that neighbor started, very minor and just petty hand gestures but shows that even after being charged with a number of offences, he still cant behave!

Had a shiny chrome cross style wheel brace and chucked it into the boot of my mini for a quick spin around the block.
Forgot to fit the battery cover and braked at a junction and it just died, no power at all.

The brace had shorted across the battery and took a sizeable chunk out of the brace. Lesson learnt...

Car battery's are capable of delivering massive current, i suspect for a moment, that brace glowed like a light bulb ha ha.

if i shorted things out in my boot, it would be pretty energetic for a moment, i have 0 gauge cable feeding it and its fused at 250A, so it would be a lively light show in the moment it took for the fuse to go :)
